A big walk and a long drive today. Started the day with a walk up the Hooker Valley which unfortunately is partly close due to renovations on one of the swing bridges. This is the view from our room. A video can be found here . After leaving Mt Cook we visited the famous church on the lake.
About 4 hr drive today. First stop was Moeraki Boulders. Mt Cook was the next stop where we did the Blue lakes and Tasman Glacier View Track. The Kea Point Track was next. The video can be found here . This is the amazing view from our room!
Today was a bit overcast then rained in the afternoon. First stop was Larnach Castle where we did a tour of the castle which was fantastic as Rodger the guide was so informative. Then it was Devonshire tea in the cafe and a walk around the gardens. We then continued out on the Otago Peninsula as far as we could go.
Three and a half our drive from Te Anau to Dunedin with a stop along the way for breakfast. In Dunedin we walked down to mainstreet for lunch then drove to the steepest street in the world. Baldwin St is so steep we didn't walk up it! Next stop was the Museum near the station. We were glad we visited but didn't have long enough there.
Drove 20 minutes to Arrowtown to visit the old town which is now full of shops. Next we took a trip on the TSS Earnslaw and had dinner at a farm and then viewed a farm show with shearing and sheep dog show.
Finally got our helicopter ride. Next stop was Roaring Billy Falls Then Fantail Falls and Blue Pools. A long days drive from 10 am to 5 pm with lots of stops along the way.
